Worshiping Shri Krishna's Other Forms

Swami Nikhilanand Ji

Let's say you decide, “I want to become ananya to Radha Krishna.” What about all the other forms that you were worshipping? Are They now going to turn Their back to you? Are They going to stop gracing you? Are They going to become angry with you and cause something to happen to you? This type of question is common, but if you look at it, it's also childish, right? Because the basis of that question is the assumption that Radha Krishna is someone else, and the other forms I was worshipping are someone else, so They're going to get angry because I'm... That's like if, let's say, a woman has a picture of her husband in a suit and tie, and a beard and mustache, and that photo she keeps on her bedside table, and one day she replaces it with a picture of him in kurta-pajama and clean-shaven. Is her husband going to get upset that how dare you replace it? If she put another man's photo, there would be a problem, but she's only changed the photo of her husband. It's the very same man!

So why would one form of Shri Krishna care that you're worshipping this form or that form? Or, “You worship Me only in this form! You didn't worship Me in all My forms!” Like would your husband say, “No, no, I want you to have the suit and tie one also. You should not disrespect my suit and tie photo!” So, you see that when you examine it, there's really no logical reason why we should fear just worshipping God in one form, or even changing from one form to another. There's nothing to fear. It's an illogical fear. So we can overcome that fear and focus on one form if we want to, and at the same time we have to remember that even though we're focusing on one form, all other forms are to be respected. They're all…

If you choose, “I'm going to be ananya to Radha Krishna,” that doesn't mean that we in any way would disrespect or disregard any other form of God.

On Ganesh Chaturthi, you can worship Ganesh Ji and say, “Ganesh Ji, please remove all the obstacles from my path in devotion to Radha Krishna!”

On Shivratri, you can worship Bhagwan Shiv Ji and say, “Please give me more love for Radha Krishna!”

You can worship Hanuman Ji and say, “Please give me the strength to overcome my weaknesses so that I can do more devotion to Radha Krishna!”

So there's no disregarding other forms. Although you may focus your personal devotion exclusively on Radha Krishna, but there's no reason to avoid other forms of God or in any way disrespect Their other forms because it's only Shri Krishna's other forms.
