There are two kinds of Saints. One is a Saint who doesn’t confuse us because he is perfect within. He’s perfect on the inside as well as on the outside, so there is no scope for confusion. That’s good. We’re not confused.
But unfortunately, 99.9% of the Saints who have come to this world, and I suspect that will come in the future, are the other type who are perfect on the inside, but they seem imperfect on the outside. They seem to be performing works of maya, and yet they are perfect on the inside. You may ask,
“Why would a perfect personality pretend to be imperfect?”
We are imperfect and we try to pose as not perfect, but we try to look like we are better than we are. Why would someone who is perfect pretend to be imperfect? Why would a Saint seem like a worldly person or pretend as if he is a worldly man?
It is because Saints are very humble by nature, and they are true lovers of God. And the nature of a true lover of God is ‘gopaniyam, gopaniyam, gopaniyam prayatnatah’ गोपनीयं, गोपनीयं, गोपनीयं प्रयत्नतः. try very hard not to reveal the love that you have inside.
Love should be kept hidden. It should not be disclosed. It should not come in the public eye.
