You are not this physical body. You are actually a Divine being, an eternal Divine soul, the atma, who resides temporarily inside this physical body. This body is our abode. This is where we live. It's like our house or our vehicle. But we are not the body. The body was given to us at the beginning of this life, and eventually we'll have to leave this body, but we do not cease to exist. We have lived unlimited lifetimes, and in every life we received a new body, sometimes as a human, sometimes as an animal, sometimes as a plant or an insect or any other life form.
Our body keeps changing, which is proof that we are not the body. We are that thing that resides within the body and leaves the body at the time of death. Knowing that we are a soul, a Divine soul, and that our body is not the ‘real me’, we also know that the things associated with our body are not really mine. If my body is not really mine, I'm going to have to leave this one day. Then what to say of the things associated with my body? My possessions, my clothes, my car, my house, my wealth, my money, my fame, even our relations, my mother, my father, my friends, my children. They are also affiliated with our physical body.
Therefore, when we leave our physical body, all of these relations come to an end. Just like we leave our body and take a new body, we leave our relations and we form new relations in the next life. This means that no person in this world is truly ours.
However, we do have someone who is truly ours, and that is Krishna, our beloved Krishna, our beloved Radha. Radha Krishna are always with us.
