Souls may argue, “Well then, just give me Divine eyes. What are You waiting for? Why do I have to surrender for You to give me the Divine eyes?”
I explained this as well. God has given souls free will. When we say, “grace me,” where would God give us that kripa (grace)? In our antahkaraṇ (inner mind). We call it mind or heart in English. And that mind of ours is our instrument for thinking and doing, and we have control over it. We are independent, and we decide what to do with it. God does not control our mind. We have turned our mind away from God. In other words, it is closed to receiving God’s grace.
Even though we say, “God is all-powerful”, God abides by His established rules.
And one of those rules is: souls have free will. If souls stubbornly refuse to turn their mind towards Shri Krishna, then how will He grace us? Where will He grace us? In our mayic (material) mind, which is turned away from Him and closed to Him. That’s why there’s the term vimukh (turned away). We are vimukh or turned away from Shri Krishna. Those who turn towards Shri Krishna instantly receive His grace.
भिद्यते हृदयग्रन्थिश्छिद्यन्ते सर्वसंशयाः।
क्शीयन्ते चास्य कर्माणि तस्मिन् दृष्टे परावरे ॥
Bhidyate hṛdayagranthishchhidyante sarvasaṁshayāḥ.
Kshīyante chāsya karmāṇi tasmin dṛiṣhṭe parāvare.
Mundaka Upanishad says, “The moment you surrender to God, all the confusions, all the doubts, all the mental problems, in other words - the mayic bondage, is finished forever.”
Kśhīyante chāsya karmāṇi (क्शीयन्ते चास्य कर्माणि) - all your past karm (actions) are also deleted, and dṛiṣhṭe parāvare (दृष्टे परावरे) - you meet God in His Divine form. You have His Divine vision.
That’s what’s waiting for us!
तमेव शरणं गच्छ सर्वभावेन भारत |
तत्प्रसादात्परां शान्तिं स्थानं प्राप्स्यसि शाश्वतम् ||
Tamev śharaṇaṁ gachchha sarva-bhāven bhārat.
Tat-prasādāt parāṁ śhāntiṁ sthānaṁ prāpsyasi śhāśhvatam.- Gita 18.62
Gita also says that Krishna tells Arjuna, “When you surrender to God, God graces you. And with His grace, you receive Divine, perfect peace and a Divine status forever.”
In other words, He gives you unlimited sat (existence), unlimited chit (knowledge), unlimited anand (bliss).
…मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुच:।
…mokṣhayiṣhyāmi mā śhuchaḥ.
Also from Gita, Krishna says, “Mām ekaṁ śharaṇaṁ vraj (मामेकं शरणं व्रज ।) - “Surrender to Me and I’ll free you from all the bondages.”
He’s just anxious to grace us. He’s willing to grace us the moment we open our hearts. I gave you the analogy of someone going out in a rainstorm to collect rain, but turning their container upside down. Then would it be correct to blame the clouds if you weren’t able to collect any pure rainwater? Of course not. It’s your fault for turning the vessel upside down.
Similarly, when our mind is turned away from Shri Krishna, how can we blame Him for not having graced us?
