How Swaroop Shakti Infuses the Mind

Swami Nikhilanand Ji

When your mind starts to be naturally attached to Him and the love you feel for Him stays in your consciousness all the time and gradually builds more and more, the more your mind gets purified. Like it's being infused with love for Shri Krishna. That's called bhav bhakti.

And this happens with the grace of the Guru. Shree Maharaj Ji says, साधना भक्ति का मतलब है मन श्री कृष्ण में लगाना और भाव भक्ति का मतलब है मन लगने लगना (Sadhana Bhakti ka matlab hai man Sri Krishna mein lagana aur Bhav Bhakti ka matlab hai man lagane lagana) Sadhna Bhakti means to concentrate the mind on Shri Krishna and Bhav Bhakti means it starts to get attached. It becomes natural in Bhav Bhakti.

And the third one, Prema Bhakti, that is the ultimate attainment we get when our Sadhana is complete. So here, Shri Maharaj Ji says, Ini man shuddha ho. As your mind purifies, because by doing Sadhana what's happening? Your mind is getting more attached to Sri Krishna.

विषयं ध्यायतस चित्तं विषयेषु विषध्यते मम अनुस्मारतस चित्तं मयेवप्रविलीयते Vishayan dhyayatas chittam vishayeshu vishadhyate mam anusmaratas chittam mayyevapraviliyate. It's the nature of the mind that whatever it deeply lovingly remembers, your mind is actually warming up for that person or that thing. It's getting heated up. So, when you heat wax, what happens? It melts.

When the wax was hard, let's say you have white wax and you want to color it red. You can't just color the cold wax. But if you heat it up and it liquefies, then you can mix in that red color and that red color becomes one.

Similarly, when our heart melts for someone, that person is entering our heart along with all their qualities. So when our heart melts for a soul under the bondage of Maya with infinite past sins, what do you think our mind is getting? More impurity. Whoever our heart melts for, we get the qualities of that person.

If somebody's heart melts for us, they're also taking on impurities. We're no better. We also have that mountain of sins on our head.

So much impurity of heart that we can't remember God for more than 10 seconds straight without our mind wandering off somewhere. We can't accept the most simple truths that God is waiting for us with open arms. Just accept Him.

We say, really? Is it that easy? Why can't we accept the simple things? Impurity of the heart blocks our devotional receptivity. So when such a person as us even, if another person's heart melts for us, they're getting all those impurities. If our heart melts for them or any Maya person, we're getting all those impurities.

But if our heart melts for Sri Krishna, our heart is getting purified. So by doing sadhana bhakti, we're purifying our heart. As the heart purifies, you're getting more and more attached to Sri Krishna, more and more surrendered to Him.

And then you'll enter into the state of bhav bhakti. So what starts happening is Sri Krishna's swaroop shakti, His personal power, because you're bringing Sri Krishna into your mind, so you're getting His swaroop shakti, His para shakti.

That's gradually as you're, however much you're getting attached to Him, that much swaroop shakti is starting to infuse your mind. Think of like a sponge. The sponge is totally dry and then you start dripping water into it. It absorbs that water, right? Until the point that it's completely saturated. Our mind is dry right now. Our heart is dry.

But that swaroop shakti is coming in. The more we practice sadhana bhakti, the more it's infusing our mind.
