Highest Stage of Brahmanand is Nirvikalp Samadhi

Sushree Braj Banchary Devi Ji

Knowing God is of three kinds (according to the Gita - knowing Him, seeing Him, union with Him)

ज्ञातुं द्रष्टुं च तत्त्वेन प्रवेष्टुं च परन्तप ||
Gyātuṁ draṣhṭuṁ cha tattven praveṣhṭuṁ cha parantap.

- Gita 11.54

Krishna is saying to Arjun, “Number one: ‘gyatum’. First of all, you attain knowledge, knowledge of God.”

So now, after crossing swaroop varika maya the gyanis attain the true knowledge of God. We read, we hear about God, but we do not have the true knowledge, the real knowledge of God. We just know in words. But they know, really know what they are reading or what they are listening to, and what they are thinking about God. Then they have the true knowledge of God. That is Brahma gyan. They attain Brahma gyan. Now they start having the Brahmanand. So there are many stages in Brahmanand as well.

The highest stage of Brahmanand is when they always remain in nirvikalp samadhi. Nirvikalp samadhi means where any subject, any matter of maya cannot enter. All the time they remain engrossed in thinking and enjoying the unlimited bliss of Brahmanand only.

In their transcendental meditation, these nirvikalp samadhi gyanis focus on the light, this spot of light. That is the light of sagun sarkar Brahm (God with a form). That is the light of the body of sagun sarkar Brahm. It is because it belongs to God that there is so much bliss. Now they think that there is nothing beyond it, because they have no idea of premanand. They have no idea of the bliss of sagun sarkar Brahm.

That’s why they enjoy Brahmanand. That is also unlimited. They cannot think about anything else at all; they enjoy so much. Unceasingly, they keep on enjoying.

Think, this kind of gyani who is called paramahans always think about Shri Ram. They think about God, they enjoy the bliss of God all the time, ‘ramante yogino nante’. That’s why He’s called Ram, ‘ramante iti Ramah’.

He is contemplated by all the gyanis, amalatma, paramahansas, etc. Paramahans means those gyanis: Brahmanandis, the top class Brahmanandis, who know about what is good and what is bad, cannot be affected by anything of maya.
