Attachment. It is because of our attachment that when we get something, then we think that particular object or individual is giving me happiness. No, it’s your contemplation. So we have to be very clear. It has to be crisp, clear, ‘black-and-white’ clear about the nature and reality of this world.
This māyic world is just an illusion, as it is said, “Brahm (illusion). Illusion-like.”
What it is, we can’t see. What it is not, that’s what we see. Like a rope lying in a dark room, and you take it to be a snake, and you start screaming. Something touches the sole of your feet and you scream, “Snake! Snake!”
But when the lights are shown, it’s no snake. It’s only a rope.
This is known as brahm (illusion), this is maya (God’s illusory power) world. We think it is the source of our happiness. It’s not. Neither there is happiness, nor there is any pain, in any object or individual of this creation - no pain, no pleasure. Nothing. It’s absolutely free of both.
Every pain and every pleasure, every happiness and every misery that we experience is due to our own mental contemplations.
