When God and the Saints come in this world, very few people benefit. Actually, when God comes, nobody benefits.
In the Ramayan (epic history of Lord Ram), imagine Prabhu Shree Ram (Lord Ram) lived in this world 11,000 years, and Tulsidas Ji says only one person benefited, Ahilya. When He came as Shree Krishna, He stayed a short time, 125 years - nobody benefited. Why? Because when we look at Him, however we are on the inside, we see Him exactly the same way.
If we are of a tamasic (mode of ignorance) nature and we meet God or a Saint, “Oh my God, he’s a bad man, such an evil man!”
If we are of a rajasic (mode of passion) nature - we love money, we love the world - and we meet God or a Saint, “I know, he likes money. (He’s a) money Guru.”
And if we are of a sattvic (mode of goodness) nature, we’re good, we have good thoughts in our mind and we meet God or a Saint, “He’s a good man. He’s good, better than me, but he’s good, that’s all.”
And God and the Saint, they’re beyond the three modes of maya (material illusion). How are we going to benefit?
Bhagwan Krishna (the Supreme Personality of Godhead) says to Arjun (the warrior disciple), Maheshwaram,
अवजानन्ति मां मूढा मानुषीं तनुमाश्रितम् |
परं भावमजानन्तो मम भूतमहेश्वरम् || 11 ||Avajānanti māṁ mūḍhā mānuṣhīṁ tanum āśhritam
Paraṁ bhāvam ajānanto mama bhūta-maheśhvaram- Gita 9.11
“Arjun, ignorant human beings, material souls under the control of maya, mistake Him for an ordinary human being.”
In the Ramayan, Tulsidas ji says,
चिदानंदमय देह तुम्हारी। बिगत बिकार जान अधिकारी॥
Chidānandmay deh tumhārī. Bigat bikār jān adhikārī.“Just as God is Divine, His body is also Divine.”
But to see the Divine body of Shree Krishna and of Radharani (the supreme Divine Beloved of Shree Krishna), we have to have Divine eyes.
In other words, if we were to see Shree Krishna with our material eyes, these eyes we have, what do they do? What can they see? Material objects, because they’re material. So if we were to see Shree Krishna with our material eyes, we will see Him as a material being, with all the defects and shortcomings, just like one of us.
So we have to make the vessel. So by doing sadhana (spiritual practice) under the shelter of a true Saint, a rasik (one absorbed in Divine love) Saint, slowly, slowly the Saint will make that vessel for us.
Our eyes will become Divine, and we will see Shree Krishna.
