Even Brahma says,
Karmāṇy anīhasya bhavo ’bhavasya te, durgāśhrayo ’thāri-bhayāt palāyanam.
Kālātmano yat pramadā-yutāśhramaḥ, svātman-rateḥ khidyati dhīr vidām iha.- Bhagwatam 3.4.16
“O Krishna, who can understand Your actions?”
Brahma is saying that he has a Divine intellect, and yet he’s admitting,
“I can’t understand Your leelās (Divine pastimes), Krishna!”
“You are ‘aj’ (unborn), and yet here on Earth, You’re known as the son of Nand Baba and Yashoda. You’re unborn, and yet You’re somebody’s son. How is it possible? You have no desires, and yet You are seen performing many types of karm (actions).”
Normally somebody has to have a personal desire, and that motivates them to perform some action, but You are desireless. You are ‘Ātmārām-poorṇakām’ (self-satisfied and complete in all desires). You are perfectly self-contented, and yet You are performing such great actions. You are performing sṛiṣṭi (creation). What could be a greater action than that? And then keeping track of all the actions of the souls and giving them the consequences. You are performing unbelievably complex and amazingly immense actions, and yet You have no desires of Your own. Who can understand?”
Brahma goes further, saying, “You have no fear because You are the God of the god of death; You are the master of Yamaraj. He trembles in front of You. So, for what reason would You fear anyone?”
Everyone fears Yamaraj. When Yamaraj comes in front of you, there’s no more jawab (answer). You have no more answer for anything. You know your time’s up. Everyone fears Yamaraj, and yet Yamaraj trembles in front of Shree Krishna.
And that same Shree Krishna, having fought Jarasandh with Balram many times, fled from Mathura when He was attacked by Jarasandh for the eighteenth time. He and Balram were so cowardly. They turned tail and ran all the way from Mathura and didn’t stop until they reached the coast of Gujarat. They never even looked behind once to see if He was chasing them or not, and they didn’t even stop there. They kept going until they reached the island of Dwarka and built a whole new city there.
Brahma says, “Who can understand Your actions? You’re behaving so cowardly, and yet even the god of death trembles in front of You!”
“स्वात्मन्रते - svātman-rateḥ - You revel in Your own Self. You don’t need any kind of sensual input from anyone to give You bliss. And yet You are seen performing rās (the Divine dance) with the Gopis (cowherd girls devoted to Krishna). Who can understand the reasons behind Your actions? You have no desires, and yet You’re marrying 16,108 queens. Who could compete with You?”
He says that ‘खिद्यति धीर्विदामिह’ - ‘khidyati dhīr vidāmih’ - those who try to understand You, even if their intellect is of great power, fail. Their intellect gives up.”
Thus, he tells his own mind-born son, Narad,
नाहं न यूयं यदृतां गतिं विदुर्, न वामदेव: किमुतापरे सुरा: ।
तन्मायया मोहितबुद्धयस्त्विदं, विनिर्मितं चात्मसमं विचक्ष्महे ॥Nāhaṁ na yūyaṁ yad-ṛitāṁ gatiṁ vidur, na vāmadevaḥ kim utāpare surāḥ.
Tan-māyayā mohita-buddhayas tvidaṁ, vinirmitaṁ chātma-samaṁ vichakṣhmahe.- Bhagwatam 2.6.37
“O Narad, I can’t understand Shree Krishna. You can’t understand Shree Krishna. Shankaraji can’t understand Shree Krishna. What to say of the devatās (celestial beings) in swarg (heaven)?”
When we (human beings) try, our buddhi (intellect) fails.
