What is Bhagwatta (the state of being Bhagwan)?
ऐश्वर्यस्य समग्रस्य धर्मस्य यशसः श्रियः ।
ज्ञानवैराग्ययोश्चैव षण्णां भग इतीरणा ॥Aiśvaryasya samagrasya dharmasya yaśasaḥ śriyaḥ ।
Jñānavairāgyayoścaiva ṣaṇṇāṁ bhaga itīraṇā ॥
The one who has Bhag is Bhagwan (God). Bhagwan means Bhagwala, one who possesses Bhag.
So, what is Bhag? Bhag is having six things in unlimited amount.
Aishwarya means power, the power to rule.
Dharma means goodness and righteousness.
Shri means wealth and beauty.
Yash means worshipfulness.
Gyan means knowledge.
Vairagya means detachment.
So, Shree Krishna, being Bhagwan, has all six of these things in unlimited amount.
The sweetness of His Leelas (Divine pastimes) is not manifested if He is behaving as Bhagwan. See, He revealed His Bhagwan, His Bhagwatta form, to Arjuna on the battlefield. And Arjuna was trembling in front of Him.
Even having received Divine vision, he said, “Prasīda Deveśa Jagannivāsa.” O Sri Krishna, please resume Your form as my friend. I’ve seen enough. This form is too much.
When you think of God as being almighty, with unlimited power, there’s no closeness, there’s no personal connection. You’ll admire Him and be in awe of Him and respect Him. But you can’t love Him.
How can you love someone who has unlimited all-mightiness when we’re just beggars for uncountable lifetimes? It’s like a beggar dreaming of marrying a princess. Would any beggar honestly consider that as a possibility? Then how could an ordinary fallen soul such as ourselves think that Shree Krishna would ever look our way? Why would He look the way of an ordinary soul?
You think, “I want to have God as my friend.” No, no, no.
Bhagwan doesn’t need any friend. He is self-complacent. Why would He need to be our friend? Why would He care to be our friend? Or to have any kind of personal interaction with us?
So Yogamaya (God’s Divine power of spiritual illusion) makes both Shree Krishna and the soul who has attained Shree Krishna, the saint, forget His Bhagwatta.
