The Endless Race for Material Achievements

Everyone in this world is rushing for higher and higher and higher material achievements, but the highest can never be achieved. From rich to poor, from young to old, from wise to foolish, everyone is engaged in such an intellectual speculation that there's no beginning, there's no end.

We can try to understand this through an example. Just like there are a few people running in a circle. So one person overtakes another, and sometimes that person is overtaken by another person. So everyone that's running in the circle has a will to overtake, and so the speed of running is increasing. However, everyone still stays within that same circle.

So in the same way, the modern living is becoming faster and faster, day by day, because of people's possessing tendencies. Yet, it stays; their desires are limited to the five physical senses. So the question then remains as to what is it that we are seeking?
