Shukdev Paramhans (the great sage who narrated the Bhagwatam to King Parikshit) is the same Divinity as Shree Krishna. Just as we never got attracted to Krishna, we were there. So how could we get attracted to Shukdev Paramhans? Now, listening to the Bhagwatam, we say,
“Only if I was there, and only if I could have had a glimpse of Shukdev Paramhans just once! What a beauty, what a glamour, what a Divinity! Oh, then I would have just surrendered!”
(They) only say it. When it comes to the reality, (it’s different). People come to me and say,
“Didi ji, I would have never gotten married if I had met you before!”
I say, “Wow! Wow! What a lie!”
But you don’t know you are lying. What is wrong now? Surrender now, never late before death. Nobody says that you don’t have to get married to surrender to God. You can be married and surrender, the Gopis (the Divine cowherd maidens devoted to Krishna) were (married). (It’s) only talk.
So Bhagwat Mahapuran does not leave any leaf unturned. And please don’t mind when I speak this language. It may sound very harsh, but (the) truth is always bitter. Always bitter to this mind, which is polluted. It is always sweet to the mind who lives in truthfulness, in honesty. And how many are there who live in this honesty? Rarely one or two - very few. So if you are one of those, excuse me. In fact, you don’t have to excuse me (because) you do understand my language very well.
So in this manner, Shukdev Paramhans is waiting for that one true devotee, the honest seeker, the desperate seeker. Who is a (honest) desperate seeker? An honest seeker is the one whose mind is exclusively, totally one, searching for Krishna, for the Beloved, and completely detached from the world.
You may think, “I am a true seeker as well.”
Check yourselves out. Is your detachment complete? 100% complete? Meaning thereby, 100% complete detachment; (it) means if I say right now,
“You come with me!”
“Didi ji, but my children!”...“Didi ji, but my husband!”...“Didi ji, but my wife!”...“Didi ji, but my property!”
(It’s) finished. Is this your detachment? And we all feel,
“I am so detached, 100% detached! Why can’t I get to God?”
So Shukdev Paramhans is not looking for somebody who only says that ‘I am detached’. He is truly looking for that (100% detached devotee).A true Saint can see through us. He may act like a fool, but he’s not a fool. He knows everything. Do not mistake him.
