If God is causelessly gracious why does He say, "Surrender to me then I'll grace you."?

Swami Nikhiladnand Ji

Chanting …

Dehu Hari! yah jhagaḍo nipaṭāy.
O Hari! Please bring this dispute to an end.

Baraji ‘Kripalu’ āpunī māyā, dehu prem ras pyāy.
Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj says, "O Ocean of Mercy! Check Your maidservant maya and nourish me with the nectar of Divine love."

- Prem Ras Madira: Siddhant Madhuri #57

Actually, there's one more confusion that was resolved in this discussion which is that if God is causelessly gracious, then why does He put the condition that you (should) surrender to Me then I will grace you?

Of course, the answer is that the grace is received in that patra (vessel). So just like the discussion on receiving Divine love, to receive His grace, your vessel has to be ready; that's what surrender is about. Surrender is not a condition to receive grace. Surrender allows us to purify our heart so that our heart can be Divinized by the Guru and then it's fit to receive God's grace.
