The Vedas (the eternal Divine knowledge of God) are impossible for anybody to read, to understand, or even to talk about. So much so, even Ved Vyas (one of the 24 descensions of God who re-organized the Vedas) himself did not ‘write’ the Vedas. The Vedas were never written. It is ‘apurushe (अपुरूषे). It is beyond human mind. Not even God has written the Vedas. Not even God? Yes.
Vedas are the very embodiment, the knowledge aspect, the chit (Divine consciousness) aspect, of satchidanand Brahma (the Supreme Reality of eternal existence, consciousness, and bliss), the Supreme Brahma, Shyam Sundar.
In the 15th chapter, 15th verse of the Bhagavad Gita, He again, in very simple terms, explains this,
… वेदैश्च सर्वैरहमेव वेद्यो वेदान्तकृद्वेदविदेव चाहम् ||
… Vedaiśh-cha sarvairahameva vedyo vedānta-kṛid veda-vid ev chāham.- Gita 15.15
“I am ved vit (the knower of the Vedas), ved vid (the knowledge of the Vedas), and ved krit (the source of the Vedas).”
In other words, “I am the knowledge, I am the knower, and I am the known. Only I know this knowledge which is known as Ved. Ved is Me. And I am that knowledge, and I am the knower of that knowledge, and I am to be known through this Vedic knowledge.”
(It’s) very clear, for your reference, 15th chapter, 15th verse. Go and look it up. Look upon it.
So in this way, the Lord has declared, right from the Vedas to the Ramayan (the historical Divine epic of Lord Ram), He has declared about His scriptures.
“Nihishva sita masya veda (the Vedas arise from the Divine breath).”
Just with the breath, the entire wisdom is poured out for the welfare of mankind. And Ved Vyas simply partitions it for the limited-minded people like you and I to grasp hold of some very important philosophy out of the infinite ocean of philosophy. And that’s how the Vedas come in these four parts.
