On seeing the Divine, radiant beauty of Shree Kishori Ji’s eyes, the greatest of the poets and their wisdom become baffled. They become confused, and instead of saying that ‘nayan kamal’, that the lotus is like the eyes, the Divine eyes of Kishori Ji, they start saying ‘kamal nayan’.
Kamal is lotus. The lotus is like the eyes, the Divine eyes of Kishori Ji.
The kavis (poets), the greatest of the poets, in confusion start saying, and this is what has now come into practice,
“Kamal nayan, kamal nayani, kamal nayani Radhaji, kamal nayan.”
‘Kamal nayan’ means the eyes are like the lotus.
Tthe right way to say it is that the beauty of the lotus flower is like the beauty of Shree Kishori Ji’s lotus eyes, because these lotus eyes, the lotus in itself, are Kishori Ji’s eyes. And the lotus that we see in nature has stolen that beauty, has stolen that form, which already is Kishori Ji’s (eyes). The original lotus is Kishori Ji’s eyes, and the original beauty of the lotus is Kishori Ji’s eyes.
So the lotus is like the beauty of Kishori Ji’s eyes.
Instead, in confusion, the greatest of the poets have started to say,
“Kamal nayani…”
The eyes of Radharani are like the lotus.
